With the potted plant and/or bunch delivery methods, it is very important that the plant is not planted directly with invertebrates. The plant should be soaked for at least one week with regular water changes. The nurseries' source material for these delivery methods mostly comes from Asia. Invertebrates could be harmed when the plant is added to an established aquarium. There should be no problems with a new setup, but you should still carry out regular water changes here as well.

Description

This plant is mostly labeled Vallisneria spiralis 'Tiger', 'Striped', 'Marmor' (Marble) or 'Leopard'. However, a DNA analysis (Les & al., 2008) has revealed that the Tiger Vallisneria is a variant of Vallisneria nana. This Australian species is quite variable and includes not only the well-known very narrow-leaved, but also quite large plants with similarly broad leaves as Vallisneria spiralis.

The Tiger Vallisneria is an excellent plant for beginners, growing in virtually all light and water conditions. The name is due to its leaves with a pattern of dark brown, short stripes. The leaves are about 30-60 cm long and 1-2 cm wide, light to middle green, also with red-brown tones under strong lighting. The Tiger Vallisneria forms runners easily, and is thus easy to propagate.

Questions and answers about Vallisneria nana "Tiger"

You have questions about this product? Ask other customer or our support team about this product!

Hello. I have a question about trimming the plant. Can I cut it down short just above the substrate like a ground cover plant? Unfortunately, the plants got completely covered in algae during the cycling phase and can't be saved visually.

Vallisneria are not suited to being cut off just above the substrate, since leaves cut too short would die off. Instead, the affected leaves should be removed completely. To deal with the algae, it is advisable to proceed manually. https://www.aquasabi.business/aquascaping-wiki_algen_algen-im-aquarium

As a rule, a pot contains 4-5 rosettes. Since it is a natural product, however, there can be deviations both downward and upward.

Very beautiful plant with beautiful coloring. With enough light red/brownish, in low-light areas green with red accents. The pattern makes it visually very interesting. (read more)
