An adsorptive filter medium

This adsorptive filter material removes all substances from the water that can promote algae growth, as well as substances that can tint the water yellowish and organic substances - for clean water.

AQUA CLEAN AC is a replaceable adsorptive filter medium developed for the SYSTEM AQUA 30 and the SYSTEM TERRA 30. The filter packs also fit the SUPER JET FILTER. (A box contains 2 packs.)

In a Nature Aquarium, we use Power Sand or Aqua Soil as the substrate, which nourishes the plants well. These substrates contain nutrients that aquatic plants need to grow, but when they are released into the water, it is possible for the water to take on a yellow tint. Algae growth can also be stimulated under certain circumstances. Aquarium driftwood releases similar pigments into the water, and Wabi-Kusa balls and the like can also give the water a yellowish to brownish tint. The best way to combat these problems is to eliminate the cause. Water changes remove the coloring substances, but beginners in particular often find frequent water changes off-putting. AQUA CLEAN AC offers a different approach: the highly absorbent filter material removes the turbidity-causing substances completely. The pack is simply placed in the filter chamber. This cleans the water additionally, and you can reduce the number and size of water changes. A pack contains two kinds of filter material - high-performance activated carbon and activated aluminum oxide. This effectively eliminates water pollutants. The high-performance activated carbon used here is particularly absorbent and removes pigments as well as soluble organic substances. This keeps the water free of cloudiness and clear. The filter medium has to be replaced once it is saturated. The activated aluminum oxide binds phosphate (PO₄) and nitrate (NO₃), which makes it highly effective for preventing algae outbreaks. From now on, caring for your aquarium becomes much easier thanks to AQUA CLEAN AC.

AQUA CLEAN AC works best when it is placed in a spot in the filter with good water flow. In the SYSTEM AQUA 30, the pack is simply placed at the top of filter 1; in the SYSTEM TERRA 30, it goes at the top of filter 2.

With the SUPER JET FILTER, you use one pack for the ES-150 and ES-300 models and 2 packs for the ES-600. 2 packs are necessary when the ES-300 is used on a 60 cm long aquarium. The packs are simply placed on top of the other filter media - which also makes them very easy to swap.

When AQUA CLEAN AC is used, it binds dissolved organic substances (measured as chemical oxygen demand or COD), phosphate (PO₄) and nitrate (NO₃), and it also removes the yellow tint from the water. When the water turns slightly yellowish again, it is time to replace the filter material (that is the case roughly every two weeks). *For the comparison, we used an extract of AQUA SOIL-Amazonia to color the water.
